It was the club’s most successful County Championships yet, with a final tally of 79 medals. The strong performance for the swimming club represents their recent focus on increasing their number of competitive regional and national swimmers.

Ali Norrish Club Chair says: “We have some incredible young talent within the club and we have recently restructured our squads and training schedules to help them reach their full potential”

Kirsten Powell took home the most gold medals for the Cirencester club (9 in total) and Alex Cohoon lead the boys with 5 gold medals. Kirsten and Alex both finished as Gloucestershire County Champions in multiple events. Emily Wan broke the oldest club records during the event; taking the 16-year-old girls’ 200 Breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley records, which were previously set in 2003.

The Cirencester swimmers are all coached by a dedicated team of local volunteers. The competitive squads train at least three times per week; including swimming training at the Everyone Active pool in Cirencester, as well as building their muscle strength through ‘land training’ in the gym.
